CFMEU members affected by privacy breaches at BHP and Glencore are encouraged to take steps to prevent potential misuse of their personal details following a privacy breach.
A significant number of employees at the two companies have had their tax payment summary information, including tax file numbers and personal details, emailed to a third party.
To protect against fraudulent use of information, members should consider:
1. Calling the ATO (1800 467 033) to report the potential compromise
2. Calling their superannuation fund to report the potential compromise
3. Getting a credit report or temporary credit ban
4. Calling IDCARE (1300 432 273) for free advice.
Please share this leaflet if you or someone you know may have been affected.
